Our Commitment to Biodiversity.

At Tropical Farming Solutions, we prioritize biodiversity conservation and soil fertility in agriculture. To minimize risks to rare and undiscovered plant species, we focus on farming fallow land in the Sahel rather than clearing intact bushland. Where land clearing is unavoidable, it is carried out responsibly and in line with ecological best practices, followed by conservation agriculture, regenerative methods, and agroforestry to maintain long-term soil health. Despite ongoing discoveries of new tree species along The Gambia’s West Coast and in Senegal’s Casamance region, Senegambia remains botanically under-explored. To support conservation, we promote responsible ecotourism and organize botanical excursions and bird safaris in partnership with Gambia Wildlife & Cultural Tours, while supporting the Gambia Geographic Explorers Club. By integrating sustainable land use, nature-based tourism, and academic research, we help protect rare species and encourage the documentation of new ones, including during necessary land clearing activities.
